Pre-existing Medical Conditions

Pre-existing medical conditions are naturally a great concern for anyone buying travel insurance. They can be defined as any condition or illness that the traveller was suffering from at the time they purchased the travel insurance - or had suffered from previously. Ordinarily, pre-existing medical conditions will be excluded from medical claims unless they have been declared and underwritten accordingly.

It's obviously of greater concern to the over 65s and over 70s who statistically are more likely to have some kind of pre-existing medical condition. The over-riding importance of declaring any pre-existing medical condition can't be stressed enough. If a condition flares up which turns out not to be covered because its not been declared when you start your policy, you could be liable to substantial medical costs: not a risk worth taking.
