08 September 2006  Travellers save hassle with baggage delivery
Travellers tired of aggravation at airport carousels or the elderly not wanting the to drag around heavy luggage they've spent money on protecting with OAP travel insurance are being advised to make use of baggage delivery services.

Price comparison website Cheapflights.co.uk studied the service offered by a number of different providers, finding differences in both price and speed between the major deliverers.

Prices ranged from £77.09 with British Airways to £162.71 with DHL, though Fedex and DHL took one day to deliver bags compared to the five days required with British Airways and First Luggage.

Davis Soskin, chief executive officer of Cheapflights.co.uk, said: "With airports becoming busier and busier, carrying luggage can often be a struggle.

"For the increasing number of travellers who wish to send their luggage on ahead, these results show the money, or time, that can be saved."

Those with senior travel insurance who make use of this service may also be interested in recent innovations to make sure their bags stay safe, such as San Francisco airport's recent introduction of radio frequency identification chips as standard to keep track of luggage.
