08 November 2006  Travellers advised on cheaper shopping holidays
Shoppers looking to pick up their cover, such as senior travel insurance, to head abroad for cheaper Christmas shopping for the family, may be interested in research by an online travel agency.

The study by CheapTickets.com found that 57 per cent of travellers had considered taking a shopping holiday, with 40 per cent of these travellers looking into hotel deals and shops in the suburbs in addition to the city stores.

Marita Hudson, from CheapTickets.com, commented that shoppers need not be restricted to local chain stores and could instead travel to big cities for more fun while shopping.

"The great news is that shopping adventurers willing to think outside the box don't need to waste their buying power on pricey downtown hotels," she added.

The Royal Bank of Scotland reported last month that travellers heading abroad to shop, which would include those with OAP travel insurance, could take advantage of an improved rate of exchange between the dollar and Euro, maintaining the popularity of shopping trips to New York.
