22 July 2006  Travel misery for Brits abroad
Aside from the frustrations of flight delays and cancellations, which affect around 50 per cent of all travellers every year, other people are the biggest source of misery for travellers of all ages, according to a new survey.

The poll, conducted by Barclays Insurance, revealed that one in three Brits find other holidaymakers are the most irritating thing while on holiday, over and above other travel stresses, such as illness, lost luggage and thefts, for which elderly travel insurance, in particular is designed.

Barclays Insurance also found while one in four people has ended up at the doctor's overseas and around half of all holidaymakers have made a trip to the chemist, others find its their friends and family who make them sick, with one in ten Brits admitting to falling out with their travel companions.

Marketing director for Barclays Insurance, Mark Till, said: "For most of us being stuck at an airport suffering from sunburn, whilst watching an empty luggage carousel with hundreds of other British holidaymakers is a vision of hell that we could all do without.

"But although travel insurance won't help you with irritants like other British holidaymakers, it can help with the bigger disasters like cancelled flights, getting ill or lost luggage."
