Forthcoming global-treasure-hunt television series The Search may give Britons looking for ideas for this year's holidays, including those with senior travel insurance, new ideas for trips to take abroad.

The Travel PR Company has explored the six overseas countries in which the show takes place and given prospective holidaymakers information on possible holiday ideas in those regions.

Over its seven weeks, the programme takes in Italy, France, India, Egypt, Guatemala and Peru, before heading back to the UK.

"Contestants in The Search will navigate the complex canal system in the first show. Follow in their footsteps and stay at the characterful Hotel Rialto," the company states, discussing Venice, the first destination featured on the show.

"Located opposite the world-renowned Rialto Bridge, you'll be in the prefect position to get lost in the city's labyrinthine alleyways and bustling piazzas".

In 2005, OAP travel insurance provider Norwich Union reported that Venice was one of the top five short break dream destinations for Britons.
