01 December 2006  Ontario cottages 'expect busy winter'
UK holidaymakers wanting a winter getaway, including those with senior travel insurance, may be booking trips to cottages in central Ontario, as it is reported that the resorts are experiencing signs of a busy winter.

The area has recorded strong bookings in addition to a large amount of traffic to travel websites for the region, with the hits for Haliburton Tourism's website rising by 70 per cent.

Bruce McClennan, owner of Ogopogo Resort, said that the company aimed at providing a range of activities at its resorts that will engage "any guest", which would include those travelling with OAP travel insurance.

"We also cater to romantic couples just looking for a relaxing getaway - complete with gourmet dinners catered to the cottage and spa service."

He reported that the resort was fully booked over Christmas and New Year, with strong bookings for the start of next year.

Travel insurance provider AXA recently reported that 10 per cent of Britons planned on visiting Canada in 2006.
