13 October 2006  Help the Aged offers Inca Trail trip
UK holidaymakers, including seniors with travel insurance over 65, may want to take advantage of a trip to Peru being supported by Help the Aged.

The charity is offering travellers the chance to participate in the trek on the Inca Trail in the country from May 24th-June 2nd next year.

In recent years the government of Peru has limited the number of trekkers on the trail to 200 per day in order to protect the historical environment of the area.

Julie Roberts, events fundraiser at Help the Aged, said: "Trekking the Inca Trail is an increasingly rare opportunity, so we are encouraging readers to take advantage of this exciting, not-to-be-missed event."

She added that participants would not only be able to enjoy the trek, but also be helping to raise funds for the charity that addresses issues affecting the elderly.

A study by AA Travel Insurance earlier this year claimed that many mature travellers were seeking more adventure on their trips abroad, including mountain climbing and safaris.

AXA recently expressed concerns that 16 per cent of participants in adventure holidays had not purchased cover, such as elderly travel insurance, for their trips.
