21 November 2006  'Grannies on Safari' explore the world
Mature travellers with OAP travel insurance may take some inspiration from two ladies presenting a new travel series - Grannies on Safari - that recently began to air on US television.

Over the first six episodes of the show, Pat Johnson and Regina Fraser visited Istanbul, Japan, Morocco, South Africa and South Korea.

Talking of the method used to choose their travel destinations, grandmother Pat said: "Sometimes we just throw a dart against a map to determine where we want to go.

"It always works out and it allows us to interact closely with travel and cultural organisations in those countries we plan to visit."

In the last thirty years, the ladies have travelled to over 80 countries across the world.

senior travel insurance specialist RIAS reported earlier this year that many mature travellers would choose to take an adventure holiday in preference to other types of trip.

It added that many such holidaymakers were requesting additional travel insurance to cover them for such activities.
