Retirees have grand plans for spending their kids' inheritance and making the most of life according to a new survey by engage Mutual Assurance.
The figure show that over half of those still in work have plans to take out some senior travel insurance and spend what money that have on travel in retirement, rather than saving it for their children to inherit.
A total of one in three would like to buy a property abroad and ten per cent plan to take time out to go skiing and snowboarding once they retire.
However, less than half of those with travel ambitions actually put their plans into action and purchase travel insurance over 65, with just 23 per cent of retirees taking overseas trips.
3GB spokesperson from engage Mutual Assurance, Karl Elliott, said: "Financial limitations often prevent Britons from fulfilling their more adventurous aspirations in retirement. Retirement savings need to go beyond the traditional pension.
"Saving little and often well in advance and making the use of tax-exempt opportunities with ISAs and Guaranteed Equity bonds is a simple and easy way to top up a retirement provisions pot."
The new generation of workers planning to Spend their Kids' Inheritance are now referred to as the SKI generation.
