02 November 2006  Door-to-door luggage delivery for travellers
Holidaymakers, including those with senior travel insurance, wanting to skip the queues at the luggage carousels, may be interested in a service to ship baggage to their desired destination in before they set off.

The service, by The Luggage Club, offers door-to-door luggage delivery, with bags being picked up by the company at the traveller's location of choice such as the home or office, being transported to their destination and returned again at the end of the holiday.

Gene Langenecker, chief executive officer of the company, said: "Today's travellers are more savvy than every before and are looking for smarter ways to travel so our service is a perfect fit."

He added that the service provided travellers with "peace of mind" in being aware that their luggage would be delivered securely and punctually.

Approximately 30 million bags do not arrive at the correct airport on time each year, with 200,000 being stolen or permanently lost, according to figures from airline computer tracking company Sita quoted by Legal & General earlier this year.

The company urged holidaymakers to ensure that they had adequate protection, such as OAP travel insurance, to guarantee they are covered for the full value of their possessions.
