25 August 2006  Brits fly across UK for bank holiday breaks
Destinations within the UK are proving attractive for holidaymakers buying holiday insurance, such as senior travel insurance, this bank holiday, Flybe reports.

UK breaks account for an estimated 85 per cent of passengers on Flybe craft, with 65,000 passengers taking a domestic flight, up 18.5 per cent on last years' figures.

Mike Rutter, chief commercial officer of the company, has s championed the ease of discovering the UK by air, noting that the most popular destinations were the Channel Islands of Jersey and Guernsey

"We're seeing that cost effective and convenient air travel is encouraging people to travel to different areas of the UK," he said.

"Britain has so many fantastic things to see and do so it's great to see so many people taking the time to explore different areas of the country."

Reports of an increase in domestic flying comes as HotelClub.co.uk research states that Edinburgh, buoyed by the international festival, is the number one holiday destination for Britons this bank holiday.

Elderly travellers purchasing travel insurance over 65 and holidaying in the UK can be certain they will be covered for their domestic trip.
