20 August 2007  Britons 'wish they had travelled more'
A majority of Britons aged over-35 wish they had travelled more when they were younger, according to a recent survey.

Research from Bradford & Bingley reveals that 53 per cent of over-35s want to have travelled more, with 21 per cent wanting to work overseas and six per cent wishing they had taken a career break or gap year.

However, the firm notes that a third of "gappers" are now aged over-50, which suggests that it's never too late to take some time off to go overseas, "with today's travellers just as likely to be grandparents, established career professionals or retirees".

Paul Whitlock, head of savings at the firm, has advised consumers that saving money can make it possible to achieve their travel and entrepreneurial goals in the future.

"Putting money aside and making it work for them means it will be easier for them to realise their dreams," he said.

Last July, research from senior travel insurance provider RIAS revealed that over three-quarters of a million Britons over the age of 55 have taken a holiday of six-months or more, with a quarter opting to head to New Zealand or Australia.
