30 January 2007  Britons considering purchasing holiday homes
According to a recent report, Britons over the age of 50 are considering spending some of their retirement abroad, with a third considering purchasing a holiday home.

Furthermore, the research from Saga reveals that 52 per cent of British seniors are thinking about taking a step further and are considering emigration.

Andrew Goodsell, chief executive of the company, commented that Spain was a popular choice for Britons nearing retirement looking to purchase a holiday home, citing reasons including sunnier weather, low cost of living and cheaper property.

"Our research showed that the main concern of those looking to buy overseas were legal issues, while other expressed concern about the language barriers," he said.

He added that Saga has explored these worries when designing its service and offered customers an independent English-speaking lawyer.

Earlier this month, NatWest reported that a third of British holidaymakers felt that owning a holiday home would reduce the stress of organising trips abroad.
